LC:M Day 2

Saturday, Day 2 of LC:M is the most busiest of the weekend and showcased many brands SS16 collections.

Lou Dalton

"This is a collection for men who love clothes."

Dalton on her collection" ‘this is a collection for men who love clothes, and all the memories their clothing evokes. It’s recalling that feeling of coming of age, that euphoria in a place where you belong’.

Lou Dalton's simplistic collection channelled youth culture and featured lightweight layers in spring colours of Tangerine and Sky Blue with stripes and a youthful check/gingham print.

Hardy Amies

Hardy Amies is a strong icon of saville row, and the new collection steers to a subtle more modern and sportier, relaxed look. The SS16 collection is inspired by aviation and features layering of casual outwear over traditional tailoring, in order for temperature regulation just like "G Suits", this also resulted in lightweight semi-transparent jackets, outwear in silks and nylon jackets. A splash of colour was added in shades of Yellow, Blue and Orange.  All looks were finished off with a pair of smart slip ons.

Oliver Spencer

One of my highlights was Oliver Spencer's collection, drawing influence from outside the fashion industry, the collection is inspired by sculptor Richard Serra. The collection is casual and relaxed with wearability being of upmost importance. Hues of aubergine, forest green, eggnog blue and other muted colours dominated the collection, with an array of patterns including stripes, florals and tartans, The block colours were and aesthetically pleasing contrast to the over sized floral prints to create a modern collection. The collection remained accessible by using familiar shapes and intelligent layering that teamed coats and jackets with shorts and light judo pants, reinforcing the important of outwear throughout the seasons. Key pieces included patterned shirts, statement accessories, and loosely structured blazers.

Soulland

The grungy collection is heavily influences by African American culture and Rebellion, Freedom and Cultural Innovation. The collection has relaxed fits and long cuts which were twinned with smart shoes like Chelsea boots, the perfect transitional footwear. Unlike other collections none of the bottoms were cropped and adds a sense of realism for typical english weather.
